Two individuals detained - accused of avocado theft in Nipomo, California

Two individuals were detained following an incident involving the theft of avocados from a ranch located in the rural area of Nipomo. The event was reported to authorities around 8:30 p.m. on a Thursday, with the caller indicating the presence of two men engaging in the theft of avocados. Upon arrival, law enforcement officers discovered the suspects in possession of approximately 500 pounds of avocados, valued at an estimated range of $3,000 to 5,000.

This incident adds to a series of avocado thefts from the ranch, highlighting ongoing challenges in the region. Wilson Carrero from Santa Maria faces charges of felony grand theft, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of a controlled substance. He is currently held at the San Luis Obispo County Jail with bail set at $20,000. Baltazar Garcia, also from Santa Maria, has been charged with felony grand theft and is detained under the same bail conditions.
