Tropical fruit cultivation expands in Turkey

In Turkey, the agricultural sector is undergoing a transformation with a focus on tropical fruit production. Products like passion fruit, have shown promising results, prompting further expansion.

Beyond passion fruit, Turkey's agricultural landscape now includes avocados, mangoes, dragon fruit, guava, and papaya, particularly in Mediterranean regions like Antalya, Mersin, and Alanya. Avocado production in Alanya has grown significantly, from 250 acres to 16,500 acres over 12 years, driven by high demand. Last year, the region harvested 70 to 80 million avocados, aiming for 100 million this year. The country also exports mangoes, dragon fruit, and guava, enhancing its agricultural exports and economic growth.
