Nearly 50,000 tons of imported fruits delivered to St. Petersburg in two weeks

During the first two weeks of August, 49,000 tons of imported fruits were delivered to the territory of St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region, Russia from 14 countries around the world, according to the press service of the Northwestern Interregional Administration of Rosselkhoznadzor.

The most frequently imported fruits were bananas (33,600 tons), lemons (3,700 tons), oranges (3,300 tons), tangerines (3,000 tons), pears (1,500 tons), avocados (880 tons), grapefruits (717 tons), and apples (640 tons).

In addition, specialists supervised the import of 241 tons of fresh pineapples, 239 tons of kiwis, 232 tons of limes, 109 tons of garlic, and 37 tons of grapes. Over 350 tons of dried fruits and berries, including raisins, peaches, mangoes, kiwis, ginger, strawberries, raspberries, and blueberries, were also brought in.

Most of the products were grown in Ecuador, South Africa, Argentina, Peru, Costa Rica, China, and other countries. All shipments that successfully passed quarantine phytosanitary control were approved for import into the Russian Federation.
