From Wednesday 4 to Friday 6 September, Hong Kong will once again host the annual Asia Fruit Logistica. Belgian companies will again be represented. In addition to companies such as Tosca, DBS Agro and Stas Belgium, there will again be a VLAM pavilion, where BelOrta, Belgian Fruit Valley, Devos Group, Fresh Fruit Service, Wouters Fruit and debutant Elite Foods will take a place. "In addition, REO Auction and Coƶperatie Hoogstraten will join us as visitors. The fair is seen by the companies as a hub to the various Asian markets, so there is enough interest every year to go along," says Nele Van Avermaet of VLAM.
Besides Fruit Logistica and Fruit Attraction, Asia Fruit Logistica has now secured a permanent place in VLAM's calendar. "The popularity of the fairs in Berlin and Madrid respectively grows every year, but even for the fair in Hong Kong, the number of participants continues to increase, we see that there is no lack of interest," Nele continues. "For companies that see potential in exporting to the various Asian markets, it is an ideal way to introduce your company and product to everyone there. This year, for instance, Elite Foods is going along for the first time. It's nice to have another new name there."
Asia Fruit Logistica is therefore not just for exporters looking at the Chinese market. "We have fruit and vegetable companies attending that are actually looking at the entire region. So we often see audiences coming to our stand from all corners of Asia. For importers from surrounding countries, it is of course also an ideal opportunity to look at interesting potential imports. The advantage here is also that we are not limited in the range we show in Hong Kong. As Belgium, we do not have access to all markets in Asia with all products, but in Hong Kong everything is allowed in, so we can show our entire range."
VLAM's stand at Asia Fruit Logistica 2023
Like last year, the way things will be done on the VLAM pavilion stand is through show cooking. "In this, a chef gets to work with typical Belgian products. From pears to fruit vegetables and chicory. It's a great way to let visitors really experience our Belgian pride. In recent years, we have certainly been able to arouse enough curiosity with this, so we expect many visitors again this year. So all in all, we are looking forward to it again. Asia Fruit Logistica is proving to be a keeper, where our exporters are keen to attend, so it's great that we can continue to facilitate this."
