Simone Pizzagalli becomes CEO of the new company

Verdelab Bioscience joins the Eurofins group

A new era has started for Verdelab Bioscience, the Rimini-based laboratory specializing in phytosanitary analyses for the agricultural and seed world. Verdelab has officially become part of the Eurofins group and will be part of the Agroscience Services division, which gathers a pool of companies from all over Europe specializing in analyses for the agricultural world and varietal research. The acquisition of the Rimini-based company, finalized on Wednesday 11 September, includes the entire staff, which will be led by the outgoing director and founder of Verdelab, Simone Pizzagalli, who has been entrusted with the role of CEO.

Verdelab Bioscience was set up in 2002 and has since become a point of reference for seed companies, nurseries dealing with fruit and vegetables and Italian and foreign agricultural companies: every day, agronomists, ļ¬topathologists, biotechnologists and experts work together carrying out analyses to check the presence of diseases on seeds and plants as well as with those who develop new varieties to safely check resistance to viruses, fungi and bacteria.

"We are proud to have been chosen by a company of the size, scope and value of Eurofins. It is an important recognition of the professionalism and quality of the work Verdelab has been carrying out thanks to its team over more than twenty years. Joining this international group will allow us to increase the services available to customers, by integrating our skills and experience gained in the field with those of a world-class network," comments Pizzagalli.

"The acquisition of Verdelab Bioscience represents a key step in our long-term strategy," comments Vincent Descours, Head of Seed Business at Eurofins Agroscience Services, "which aims to provide all our customers with a complete portfolio of integrated solutions for the seed industry, including laboratory testing, analytical and diagnostic services, and field trials. The experience and expertise of the Verdelab team and its experts further widen the solutions offered to our customers, enabling the Eurofins laboratory network to respond more quickly and efficiently to agricultural challenges."

It is a step forward for the growth of both companies: "When we began to consider this operation, our first concern was to safeguard our most precious treasure: our team," Pizzagalli continues. "Verdelab is first and foremost made up of the people who work here: a group of highly-skilled experts, but also a 'family' that works together every day, to grow with quality in mind. Eurofins was looking exactly for this: a company that would allow it to further improve the offer of its global network, strongly rooted in the territory and of undisputed value, to build a path of mutual growth."

The Verdelab team

"All the Verdelab structures, personnel and activities will continue to take place in our Rimini headquarters but, as of today, we will be able to expand our offer thanks to a network that brings together the best businesses of the world of agricultural defense."

During the transition, the selling partners were assisted by Adma Partners for the financial and M&A aspects, by Fabrizio Farina for the tax aspects, and by the lawyer Fabrizio Fanti for the legal aspects.
