Belarus will stockpile 121,100 tons of fruits and vegetables in stabilization funds for the off-season period, announced Alexey Bogdanov, the Minister of Antimonopoly Regulation and Trade.
The stabilization fund system has been instrumental in ensuring stable supplies of produce to the domestic market for several years.
Minister Bogdanov noted that farmer households are crucial for producing fruits and vegetables in Belarus, with about 70% of all produce coming from these farms. In the past three years, domestic consumption of fruits and vegetables has increased, reversing the previous trend of high exports and heavy reliance on imports.
Consequently, the consumption of fruits and vegetables in the domestic market grew by 30-50% during the last off-season period.
