In the city of Aidarken, located in the Batken region of Kyrgyzstan, where 95% of the population is engaged in apple farming, this year's apple yield has decreased by 10-15%. Residents usually harvest the apples in large quantities and export them to neighbouring countries, including Uzbekistan. However, the apples are also smaller compared to previous years. Farmers attribute these changes to the cold and rainy spring, which, while reducing the number of pests, has negatively affected the quality and size of the apples.
Local farmers note that the harvest has just begun, but a lower yield is expected this year. Last year, apples were sold at 1.07 euros per kilogram, but this year's price has not yet been determined, and there are fewer buyers than in previous years.
Previously, the main export destination for Aidarken's apples was Tashkent, where the best varieties were sold in supermarkets. The remaining apples were transported to cities such as Ferghana and Kokand.
