Australian Bananas, in collaboration with Thinkerbell, introduced a unique 'Banana Gym Pass' for National Banana Day on 16 October 2024, leveraging Val Morgan Outdoor digital platforms. This initiative integrates over 350 gyms across Australia, including prominent names like Goodlife Health Clubs, Fitness First, Zap Fitness, Club Lime, and Viva Leisure, allowing Australians to use a banana as their gym entry pass for the day. The campaign aims to foster a healthy and active lifestyle among Australians.
The 'Banana Gym Pass' is part of a comprehensive national campaign, encompassing Out-Of-Home (OOH), gym retail spaces, YouTube, radio, and social media channels. Ryan Simpson, national sales manager at Val Morgan Outdoor, expressed enthusiasm for the partnership, highlighting the distribution of bananas to media agencies and encouraging staff participation. This initiative seeks to eliminate barriers to gym access, offering Australians a free workout opportunity nationwide.
Belinda Van Schaik, head of marketing at Hort Innovation, remarked on the significance of National Banana Day in celebrating local produce and promoting bananas as an ideal energy snack due to their nutritional value. Philippa Netolicky, general manager at Thinkerbell, commented on the initiative's alignment with Australian Bananas' mission to encourage an active lifestyle, suggesting potential future health-oriented activities facilitated by the Banana Gym Pass.
