On October 19, Blue Ocean Trading Import-Export Joint Stock Company initiated the export of fresh Vietnamese passion fruit to Australia from Phu Son commune, Lam Ha district, Lam Dong province. Concurrently, the inauguration of a frozen fruit processing facility was held in the same locality. This export marks a collaborative achievement between the Vietnamese Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and the Australian counterpart, with the first consignment weighing 1.5 tons. Passion fruit now joins mango, longan, lychee, and dragon fruit as the fifth Vietnamese fruit variety to enter the Australian market.
The establishment of the processing plant in Lam Dong is aimed at enhancing the supply chain efficiency for both domestic and international markets, as stated by Blue Ocean JSC's General Director. The factory, spanning 10,000 m2 and equipped with cutting-edge technology, is designed to produce over 10,000 tons of frozen fruit annually. It processes a variety of fruits including durian, passion fruit, rambutan, mango, and dragon fruit, employing a quick-freezing method to retain the products' original taste and nutritional value.
Adhering to international food safety and hygiene standards such as HACCP and BRCGS, the company's products cater to stringent global market demands, including the United States, Japan, Korea, Australia, and the EU. The Chinese market, in particular, presents a significant consumption and logistical advantage for Vietnamese exports.
At the export ceremony, the Vice Chairman of Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee highlighted Lam Dong's agricultural landscape, which includes over 900 hectares of passion fruit cultivation. The new processing facility by Blue Ocean JSC is seen as a pivotal development for local farmers and businesses in establishing a comprehensive production, processing, and consumption chain. Lam Dong province has pledged support for Blue Ocean JSC in market expansion endeavors.
