Weekly banana price report

UK banana prices: 5% Price hike for bananas in Costa Rica week 42

This series gives the average wholesale prices of bananas per country of origin. Prices are national averages of the most common prices for bananas at wholesale markets in Birmingham and London. This publication is updated weekly.

Prices in British pounds (£) per kg for week 42 Current average weekly banana prices were £0.90 (€1.08) for bananas from Belize, an increase of 1% compared to last week. The price for bananas from Colombia this week was £0.84 (€1.00), the same price as last week. Bananas from Costa Rica reached £0.98 (€1.17) per kg, a price increase of 5% compared to last week. Bananas from Panama sold for £0.96 (€1.15), down 3%, while bananas from Guatemala cost £0.93 (€1.11) this week, up 2%.
