Between January and August, Peru's agricultural exports to Europe experienced a 28.2% increase, totaling 2.318 billion dollars, as reported by the National Association of Exporters (ADEX). This growth encompasses both traditional and non-traditional agricultural goods, with the prior year's figure standing at 1.808 billion dollars for the same timeframe. The export array primarily included avocados, coffee, cocoa beans, blueberries, mangoes, fresh asparagus, grapes, bananas, citrus fruits, pomegranates, canned asparagus, passion fruit juice, piquillo peppers, and ginger, finding markets across the Netherlands, Spain, the United Kingdom, Germany, Belgium, Italy, France, Russia, Sweden, Denmark, Estonia, Greece, among others.
At the SIAL fair in Paris, held from October 19 to 23, Peruvian agro-exporters generated sales expectations for their agro-industrial products worth 130.3 million dollars for the upcoming 12 months, marking a 30% increase from the 2022 edition. The fair, which convenes biennially, saw participation from 33 Peruvian companies engaging in 2.410 business meetings globally. Highlighted products included frozen IQF mango, blueberries, avocado, orange and pineapple juice, passion fruit juice and pulp, lucuma, and soursop pulp, alongside, ginger, garlic, turmeric, and snacks like fried native potatoes and giant corn from Cusco.
ADEX President Julio Pérez Alván emphasized the collaborative efforts with PromPerú and the commercial office (OCEX) in Paris, showcasing Peru as a leading exhibitor and reinforcing its status as a competitive supplier of high-quality agricultural products. "The national participation in the fair reflected the progress of our food industry, allowed us to identify new buyers and deepen commercial relations with clients," he concluded.
