Tajikistan completes harvest of potatoes and vegetables

In Tajikistan, the harvest of vegetables and potatoes has been completed in significant areas, according to the Ministry of Agriculture.

By October 18, potatoes had been planted on 37,613 hectares, and the crop had been harvested from 31,374 hectares. The yield was 23.8 tons per hectare.

According to the ministry, vegetables were sown on 39,978 hectares, of which the crop has been harvested from 39,178 hectares. The total volume of harvested vegetables amounted to 1,357,226 tons, with an average yield of 34.6 tons per hectare.

The structure of the harvest includes:

  • 647,919 tons of onions
  • 56,728 tons of cabbage
  • 238,957 tons of tomatoes
  • 122,992 tons of cucumbers
  • 152,342 tons of carrots
  • 138,288 tons of other vegetables.

According to the Agency for Statistics under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, the volume of crop agricultural production in Tajikistan for the first nine months of 2024 increased by 11.9% compared to the same period last year.
Significant growth was shown in the volumes of main crops:

  • potatoes increased by 16.5%
  • vegetables by 8.9%
  • melons by 12.4%
  • fruits by 20.1%
  • grapes by 32.6%.
