Bolzano, 21 to 23 November 2024

Nearly 500 exhibitors from 21 countries at Interpoma

Everything is ready for the thirteenth edition of Interpoma, the trade fair dedicated to the apple sector that will be held at the Bolzano exhibition centre from 21 to 23 November 2024. The press conference was held in the presence of Thomas Mur, CEO of Fiera Bolzano, Georg Kossler, president of the South Tyrolean Apple Consortium, Giulia Montanaro, brand manager of Interpoma, Thomas Letschka (Laimburg research centre), Luigi Manfrini of the University of Bologna and Gerhard Dichgans, expert and consultant of Ipoma magazine. Mur announced that the exhibition spaces are sold out, with almost 500 exhibitors from 21 different countries.

Kossler emphasised that, "Interpoma is a privileged meeting point for those working in the world of apples. There will be experts from all over the world and we know that they always come to South Tyrol. We always try to look ahead and find interesting new things to offer young growers so that they can get the right financial recognition for their hard work."

While thanking the entire team, brand manager Giulia Montanaro emphasised that "the fair also wants to be a moment of innovation thanks to the Interpoma Award 2024", the prize organised by Fiera Bolzano in cooperation with the Faculty of Agricultural, Environmental and Food Sciences of the Free University of Bolzano and sponsored by SOI, the Italian Society of Horticulture. Agricultural sustainability and new technologies will be the focus of the technical jury that will select the winners of the coveted award.

This edition will also see the debut of the Visitors' Choice Award, a vote given by the public during the first day of the fair to the technologies featured in the "Apple orchard of the future'" The names of the winners of both awards will be announced during the official award ceremony at the end of the second day of the Interpoma Congress, on Friday 22 November 2024.

Innovations can be seen in the "Apple orchard of the future", where a row of an apple orchard will be reproduced in an area of 800 square metres. Here, it will be possible to test the digital technologies presented by 11 companies in the sector: technologies and applications that allow photographs to be taken to better manage apple orchards or obtain the size and colour classification of apples; real-time disease monitoring systems; software to simplify farm management; systems to facilitate precision agriculture; robotic agrosystems for apple harvesting; technologies to monitor the state of the plants in real time and devices to encourage water saving. The apple orchard of the future will also be the protagonist of ipoma, the official magazine of Interpoma now in its third edition, which will delve into the theme of the application of digital solutions along the apple supply chain.

Interpoma Congress, the world's leading training event for those working in the world of apples, organised by Fiera Bolzano in collaboration with the Laimburg Experimentation Centre, will address themes relating to production, tools and possible solutions to mitigate the effects of climate change and increasingly impactful atmospheric events, and to help producers work in increasingly uncertain conditions. In particular, on Thursday 21 November the congress will explore the theme"Genetic evolution: new breeding technologies" while, on Friday 22 November, it will be the turn of "Digital revolution: the apple orchards of the future".
