Tbilisi hosts conference on boosting blueberry production

On October 29, Tbilisi became the focal point for discussions on blueberry cultivation and sustainable agriculture, hosting the 'Potential of Blueberry Production and Modern Practices in the Agro-Industry' conference. Organized by Blue Garden, the event convened industry leaders, the Georgian Blueberry Growers' Association (GBGA), farmers, government officials, and global agro-industry experts. The conference, moderated by Shota Tsukoshvili, CEO of GBGA, aimed to share expertise, foster innovation, and bolster Georgia's agricultural sector on the international stage.

Blue Garden, established in 2020, has been instrumental in modernizing Georgia's agricultural sector, offering comprehensive services from consulting to export support. Tornike Chkhaidze, a consulting partner at Blue Garden, highlighted the company's commitment to providing end-to-end support for agribusinesses, enabling local farmers to leverage the latest agricultural resources and expertise.

The conference showcased Blue Garden's collaborations with international agricultural firms such as Legro, Pasquini & Bini, and Borusan CAT, facilitating access to advanced cultivation methods, sustainable solutions, and modern technologies. These partnerships have been central to increasing agricultural yields and employment within Georgia's farming sector.

Representatives from Blue Garden's partner companies shared insights into modern blueberry cultivation techniques, industry trends, and sustainable agricultural practices. Erik Veenman from Legro discussed the benefits of using innovative substrates for plant growth, while Ivan Mancini from Pasquini & Bini emphasized the importance of eco-friendly materials in nursery solutions. Zafer Aksakal of Borusan CAT introduced clean energy solutions for sustainable agricultural development.

The GBGA outlined the current state of blueberry cultivation in Georgia, emphasizing goals for export expansion and trade diversification. Challenges such as logistics and market access were discussed, with plans for a demonstration garden in eastern Georgia announced to showcase best practices and foster industry collaboration.

The conference concluded with a panel discussion on overcoming sectoral challenges and promoting growth. It underscored the collective commitment of Blue Garden, GBGA, and their partners to advancing Georgia's agricultural industry through innovation, sustainable practices, and strategic collaboration.
