At Horticola Guadalfeo in Motril, Spain, the greenhouse vegetable season has kicked off again. "In our area in the province of Granada, there is not much damage to the greenhouses, the damage is more in Almeria and especially in El Ejido," Ellen van Kester explains. "At the moment, the productions are still small, the harvests from the mountains are decreasing rapidly, and the coast is starting very slowly. The current weather conditions are also not helping this to accelerate."

Guadalfeo has a focus on specialty tomatoes. "Our main products are Marazul, tomato Rosa, and Cherokee. This year we have a new variety, Coeur de Boeuff chocolate. We carry these specialties mainly in the Spanish market, but they have been well introduced there by now and we are therefore seeing more and more demand from export countries like England, Germany, and the Netherlands."
