The 2024/2025 campaign of the Peruvian blueberry industry has shown a progression in alignment with its forecasts, exceeding previous records. As of week 43, the industry has dispatched 147.459 tons of blueberries, marking a 38% increase from the 2023/2024 campaign and 5% above the projections made last October. Of these, 134.381 tons were conventional, surpassing the past season by 42% and the projections by 7%, while organic shipments accounted for 13.078 tons, up 12% from the previous year but 12% below the anticipated figures.
Diving into specifics, week 43 saw an export of 12.622 tons, 17% higher than the same week in the 2023/2024 campaign but 27% below the latest forecast. Leading the volume of shipments was Camposol with 18.217 tons, followed by Agrovisión Perú SAC, Complejo Agroindustrial, Hortifrut Perú SAC, and Agroberries Perú, collectively accounting for 49% of The 2023/2024 season notably marked by a downturn, attributed to the adverse effects of El Niño, which impacted production and slowed the season, making it the first year to witness a decline in the supply of fresh blueberries on the global stage. This period saw the export of 224.888 tons of conventional and 22.874 tons of organic blueberries, reflecting a decrease from the prior campaign.
However, the current season's figures suggest a rebound, with not only a recovery in growth but also the introduction of new varieties potentially leading to better quality fruit and enhanced economic returns for Peruvian producers and exporters.
