Hangzhou and Aksu boost agricultural trade with "Autumn fruits eastbound" project

Officials and businesses in Hangzhou have facilitated the transport of over 120 tons of fruits from Aksu to the city, initiating the "Autumn Fruits Eastbound" project, a collaboration with Aksu in the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. This venture has enabled the sale of 60 tons of jujubes, 90 tons of pears, and 90 tons of walnuts to the Zhejiang Farmer Cooperative Group, making these products accessible in both physical and online markets within Zhejiang Province.

The project also featured an offline sale expo at Hangzhou's Wulin Square from November 8-10, where over 130 agricultural companies from 16 provinces showcased more than 1,000 specialties, including Aksu's fruits and nuts. Aksu, recognized for its apple cultivation, especially the rock candy apples, plays a pivotal role in this project.

To further support rural development and the agricultural sector, the Hangzhou-funded Aksu Apple Real-time Meteorological Monitoring Station has been completed and connected to the China State Grid. This station will provide vital meteorological services for apple orchards, aiding in the assessment of weather impacts, forecasting crop yields, and promoting smart agriculture practices.

Hangzhou's commitment to marketing Aksu's agricultural products has resulted in the sale of 35,000 tons of produce, generating 550 million yuan by the end of September. This initiative is part of Hangzhou's ongoing effort to support the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, which began thirteen years ago with the dispatch of the first official from Hangzhou to assist in the region's development.
