"The weather situation in Spain remains worrisome following the disaster in Valencia and the precipitation damage in AlmerÃa and other areas," John van der Zouwen of De Groot Fresh Group told us. "We have never completely run out of products, thanks to our strong relationships, but we have faced limitations in quantities and delays in arrivals."
"Respect to the suppliers for providing us with products despite the challenges they are experiencing, both professionally and personally," John continued. "Naturally, prices are higher now for some products, but that always happens when supply is scarce. Before the weather took a turn, there was ample supply, and growers had some concerns about pricing."
With more rain on the way, it's crucial to stay vigilant, as conditions also impact quality. Fortunately, we have been spared any major quality issues so far. Currently, we have excellent, storable satsumas, clemenules, and navelinas from our trusted suppliers, and fruiting vegetables are arriving as usual. In our industry, we understand that circumstances can change quickly, and we always strive to find the best solutions," John concluded.
