Almost two weeks earlier than last year, Camposol has launched this year's cherry season for the Chinese market. The first shipment from Chile arrived in Shanghai on November 11th and was quickly distributed across various channels. The cherries, sourced from the O'Higgins and Maule regions, are of the Santina and Lapins varieties, both highly valued by Asian consumers.
Chile projects a total export volume of approximately 658,000 tons of cherries for the 2024/25 season. Camposol's cherry exports to Asia are managed by its Chilean branch, which recently marked its 5th anniversary. Harvesting began on November 4, nearly two weeks ahead of last season, with favorable weather conditions contributing to good sugar levels and high-quality produce. The company expects a significant increase in cherry exports to China this year, with continued growth anticipated in 2025.
Camposol has been active in the Asian market for over 15 years, coordinating its operations through a sales platform in Shanghai. Cherries are the sixth fruit marketed by Camposol in China, alongside avocados, blueberries, grapes, mandarins, and mangoes.
"The Chinese market is important to us, and we value the cooperation with our customers in the region across various channels, including retailers, distributors, and wholesalers. Currently, Camposol's cherries are marketed almost exclusively in China. Starting in the 2025 season, we plan to expand into new markets in Asia and increase our presence in Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities in China," said Luis Miguel Baanante, General Manager of Camposol in Asia.
"The Asian market plays a central role in Camposol's long-term strategy, and cherry production is key to our expansion plans in the region. We see opportunities to strengthen partnerships and meet the growing demand for sustainably produced fruit. Our investment in Chilean operations supports our goal of delivering quality products to Asia and beyond," added Ricardo Naranjo Fernandez, CEO of Camposol.
