In a significant boost to Armenia's agricultural sector, the country is set to create intensive orchards spanning 7,700 hectares, drawing investments up to $590 million. Deputy Minister of Economy, Arman Khodjoyan, announced that 2,600 hectares have already been allocated for new orchards under the intensive horticulture program.
Over the six years of implementing the state program for intensive horticulture, Armenia has cultivated a new culture of orchard management.
In the current year of 2024, applications have been submitted for the creation of orchards covering 780 hectares, 120 hectares of which will receive state compensation.
The regions Armavir, Aragatsotn, Kotayk, and Ararat lead in the area of new orchards established under the program.
Launched in 2018, the program has already received applications for the creation of orchards covering a total area of about 7,700 hectares.
