Chinese firm explores durian investment to boost Cambodia’s agricultural exports

To bolster agricultural exports, Zhengzhou Chen's Sun, a Chinese entity, has shown interest in investing in durian cultivation and processing in Cambodia. This was a key topic of discussion in a meeting on November 6, 2024, between Cambodia's Prime Minister Hun Manet and Xuemei Chen, Chairman of Zhengzhou Chen's Sun, in Kunming, Yunnan Province, China.

Xuemei Chen pointed out Cambodia's potential in agriculture, with a focus on the durian sector, aiming at enhancing exports to China and beyond. The envisioned investment is expected to create jobs, improve incomes, and elevate living standards in Cambodia.

Prime Minister Hun Manet expressed support for foreign investment, highlighting Cambodia's agricultural export capabilities. He urged the company to work closely with local authorities and partners to realize their investment plans. This initiative could significantly impact Cambodia's agricultural export landscape, positioning it more prominently in the global market.
