The EastFruit project analysts have observed a downward trend in the carrot market in Ukraine. The demand for carrots is described as low, with wholesale buyers opting for purchases based on immediate need, which discourages stockpiling and, in turn, affects price stability.
Carrot prices are currently positioned between 15-23 UAH/kg ($0.36-0.56/kg), showcasing an average decline of 21% from the previous week. The seasonal uptick in supply against a backdrop of modest demand is pinpointed as the primary cause for the reduction in prices, prompting producers to lower their asking prices to stimulate sales.
Despite the recent price decreases, the cost of carrots is notably higher—2.4 times more than in the same timeframe last year. This price variance is linked to a decrease in production volumes, a consequence of the unusually dry summer conditions impacting yield.
