The California Prune Board has unveiled a virtual reality (VR) project aimed at bringing the essence of California's prune orchards closer to a global audience. This initiative, a first in the prune industry, utilizes VR technology to highlight the innovation and sustainable practices within the orchards, offering an immersive experience to trade buyers, media, and stakeholders worldwide.
Featuring advanced VR headsets and a 360-degree interactive environment, the 20-minute journey allows users to explore the orchards spread across 14 counties in the Sacramento and San Joaquin valleys. The experience provides insights into modern drying techniques, smart irrigation, and the use of solar energy, showcasing how technology can overcome geographical distances and foster new forms of engagement.
Esther Ritson-Elliott, the Director of International Marketing and Communications at CPB, stated, "Using the power of virtual reality, the California Prune Board has brought the orchards to the doorstep of audiences outside of the United States. Using the latest interactive technology, we have crafted an informative, educational, and fun experience that engages the user and enables us to showcase the exceptional origins of California Prunes.
