Between November 15, 2024, and November 30, 2024, the cold storage holdings of several grape varieties in the United States experienced significant changes.
The Autumn Royal variety showed a sharp decline, with total storage dropping from 137,747 units to 66,536 units—a 51.7% decrease. This reduction was consistent across most packaging types, notably in "Bags," which fell by over 50%. This decrease reflects either high market demand or inventory turnover in preparation for seasonal shifts.
In contrast, the Autumn King variety experienced a substantial decrease, with total storage dropping from 1,719,163 units to 738,260 units, a 57% reduction. The "Plain Pack" and "Bags" categories saw the most notable declines, signifying strong sales or inventory adjustments ahead of seasonal demand fluctuations.
The Scarlet Royal variety also saw a notable reduction in storage, with total holdings dropping by 53%, from 540,339 units on November 15 to 253,614 units on November 30. Decreases were observed across all packaging types, particularly in "Bags" and "Plain Pack," indicative of similar market conditions affecting other grape varieties.
For the Great Green variety, total storage decreased from 47,625 units to 26,857 units, a 43.6% decline. Notably, "Bags" and "Clamshell" packaging were significantly affected, aligning with trends observed in other white grape varieties.
Overall, the total cold storage holdings for all grape varieties decreased markedly from 7,918,530 units to 4,929,886 units over these two weeks, reflecting heightened market activity and preparation for the end-of-year holiday season. These changes underscore the dynamic nature of the cold storage industry and its alignment with market demand and seasonal shifts.
