The Iranian apple export campaign is ongoing, following the close of the harvest in October. Danial Shahabazi, founder and CEO of Daniur Fresh Fruits and Vegetables, assures that the market is currently dynamic despite rising prices.
Shahabazi says, "On the production side, there were challenges related to weather conditions which resulted in a small decrease in volumes, but we do our best to source good quality apples for our customers. We are helped by our long experience and knowledge of growers in many Iranian regions."
"We select apples of very good quality, of the Red Delicious variety, in sizes 120 to 180, +80% coloration, 3 layers, free sugar, and a pressure of 16 and up. Our apples also have a shelf life of nine months in cold storage," Shahabazi continues.
This season too, Iranian apples, like the rest of fresh produce exports, continue to be impacted by the geopolitical situation. Shahabazi says, "As everyone knows, we are confined to a proximity market, in the Gulf countries and the Asian continent. There is currently good demand in India and the United Arab Emirates via Dubai. But I reiterate my invitation to buyers in other markets and assure them that we can supply them with Iranian apples through Turkey. We are looking forward to the time when Iranian exporters will open up to the global market with consistent volumes."
Shahabazi concludes, "For the quality standards we offer, our prices are very competitive compared to other origins that grow and export apples, to the delight of our current markets. There has been a slight increase in prices this season, but our prices continue to be unbeatable."
