The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) has introduced a new grant initiative to support aggregation models aimed at building value chains in the horticulture and berry sectors in the Lviv region. As part of this initiative, grants of up to US$150,000 per project will be provided, with a 50% co-financing requirement.
An informational session held recently in Lviv brought together over 50 representatives of small and medium-sized businesses interested in participating in FAO's third grant cycle.
"FAO's grant program has already demonstrated its effectiveness during the first and second grant cycles, where agricultural producers in the Lviv region received over US$1,350,000 to develop berry farming, vegetable production, aquaculture, and milk production and processing," said Lyudmyla Honcharenko, Acting Director of the Department of Agro-Industrial Development of the Lviv Regional State Administration.
FAO experts shared insights on implementing aggregation models in the European Union and adapting these approaches to meet Ukraine's specific needs.
The grants aim to foster cooperation among producers, processors, and distributors to build robust value chains that enhance productivity and market access. The initiative aims to help small and medium-sized enterprises to compete effectively in local and international markets.
