Orange prices in Europe fluctuate with Greece down 41% and Italy up 9% in November 2024

In the latest update on orange prices across the European Union, significant fluctuations have been observed in various member states. The data, updated on December 18, 2024, reveals a mixed trend in the pricing of oranges, reflecting both increases and decreases depending on the country. This variation is influenced by multiple factors, including local production conditions, market demand, and external trade dynamics.

In Greece, the orange prices have experienced a notable decline.
Compared to October 2024, prices in November 2024 dropped by 17.09%. This downward trend is even more pronounced when compared to November 2023, with a staggering decrease of 41.06%. Over a longer period, the prices have also fallen by 8.87% compared to the 5-year average. These significant reductions could be attributed to an oversupply in the market or reduced demand, impacting the overall pricing structure.

Conversely, Italy has seen a different trend with its orange prices. In November 2024, the prices stood at €144 per 100 kg, showing a positive change. Although there is no available data for the percentage change from October 2024, the prices have increased by 9.04% compared to November 2023. Additionally, when compared to the 5-year average, there is a substantial increase of 23.13%. This upward trend suggests a strong market demand or possibly lower production volumes, driving the prices higher.

Spain, another major producer of oranges, has also experienced fluctuations. The prices in November 2024 were recorded at €85 per 100 kg, which is a decrease of 3.78% from October 2024. Compared to November 2023, the prices have dropped by 8.80%. However, when looking at the 5-year average, there is a significant increase of 24.10%. This mixed trend indicates that while there might be short-term challenges affecting the prices, the long-term outlook remains positive, possibly due to consistent demand and favorable market conditions.
