Richard Cameron - 45 South Cherries

"Timing of CNY is excellent this season but we also have very strong sales for our Sentennial variety well into February"

The cherry harvest at 45 South Cherries started in mid-December, the company owns and manages over 250 hectares of orchards in the Cromwell area of Central Otago, New Zealand.

"We started with the Chelan variety in mid-December and end with the Sentennial variety which is exclusive to 45 South, in early February, in between we harvest Stella Lapin Sweetheart and Staccato," said Richard Cameron, Sales and Marketing Manager at the company.

"All of our production is in the Cromwell area, Central Otago, very close to the 45th Parallel, this is where we get our name. The New Zealand cherry harvest is running a few days later than normal this season. We have been experiencing warm days and cool nights, perfect growing conditions for sweet crunchy cherries, we have only set a moderate crop, and sizing is very good this season."

45 South have a wide spread of export markets, "You can find our cherries with our strategic partners in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Taiwan, Vietnam, Malaysia, Thailand and North America, all markets are receiving fruit and preforming well. The timing of Chinese New Year is excellent this season but in addition we have very strong sales for our exclusive Sentennial variety well into February, it has become well known for its excellent storage and eating quality."

45 South is well known for its industry leading quality and has strong brand awareness through the entire season.
