Georgia sees decline in orange and mandarin imports

Imports of oranges and mandarins to Georgia have decreased in volume. At the same time, there has been a slight increase in the monetary value of mandarin imports, according to data from the National Statistics Office of Georgia ("Sakstat").

From January to November 2024, Georgia imported 9,204 tons of oranges worth $5,481,110. In the same period in 2023, imports totaled 9,385 tons valued at $5,609,660, indicating a slight decline in volume and value.

Top 5 countries supplying oranges to Georgia in 2024:

  • Turkey: $2,392,610 (4,182 tons)
  • Iran: $1,824,770 (3,240 tons)
  • Egypt: $823,600 (1,329 tons)
  • South Africa: $275,470 (278 tons)
  • United Arab Emirates: $70,850 (91 tons)

In the first 11 months of 2024, Georgia imported 6,172 tons of fresh or dried mandarins (including clementines, tangerines, and satsumas) valued at $3,951,290. This represents a slight decrease in quantity compared to 6,384 tons in 2023 but an increase in value, which stood at $3,889,780 during the same period last year.

  • Turkey: $3,378,660 (5,196 tons)
  • Iran: $450,030 (808 tons)
