Russia remains the top buyer of Georgian fruits, with strong demand for peaches, mandarins, and berries. According to Georgia's statistics agency, the country exported $98.7 million worth of fruit to Russia in 2024, a 3.2% increase from the previous year.
Peaches accounted for the largest share, with exports valued at $32.2 million. Berries, including cranberries, blueberries, and lingonberries, followed with $30 million. Citrus fruits, mainly mandarins, ranked third at $22.6 million.
Other popular Georgian exports to Russia included apples and pears ($6 million), hazelnuts ($4.8 million), figs ($1.5 million), and grapes ($1.1 million).
Russia was the leading market for Georgian produce, ahead of Armenia ($27 million), Italy ($18.2 million), Spain ($14.6 million), and Germany ($12.6 million).
Almost all of Georgia's apple exports also went to Russia. Between August 2024 and January 2025, Georgia sold 9,100 tons of apples abroad, with 9,026 tons sent to Russia. Smaller shipments went to Kazakhstan (60 tons), Turkey (21 tons), and Armenia (2 tons).
The total value of exported apples reached $5.8 million, six times higher than the same period in the previous season. The volume of shipments also increased sixfold, up by 7,600 tons compared to last year.
