Exhibition overview of Chinese exhibitors at Fruit Logistica

Chinese exhibitors at Fruit Logistica remained a dominant presence at the exhibition, primarily representing export companies specializing in agricultural products such as ginger, garlic, and honey pomelo. Their participation far outnumbered others. However, some exhibitors noted that the Chinese exhibition area, located in the more remote Hall 26, experienced relatively lower visitor traffic. Without prior appointments, it was challenging for potential clients to visit spontaneously.

Reemoon, a Chinese manufacturer of sorting machines, returned to the exhibition with a booth in the machinery section, drawing significant attention. The company showcased its latest visual sorting system, the Fruscan S7 Pro, along with other advanced equipment, offering live demonstrations. The steady stream of visitors at their booth underscored Reemoon's strong influence in the global market.

Beyond machinery, temperature and humidity data logger companies also introduced their latest innovations, offering samples for visitors to test. Sandy from Tzone Digital Technology shared, "We have participated in Fruit Logistica Berlin for many years. This time, we launched two 4G wireless real-time temperature and humidity data loggers—TT19EX and TT19. These devices not only track temperature and humidity but also feature intelligent functions such as light sensing, vibration detection, and GPS positioning, making them particularly valuable during Chile's cherry season." She added that the company distributed a large number of samples and attracted many potential customers.

Packaging materials were another highlight of the exhibition. Several Chinese companies debuted their eco-friendly and biodegradable fruit and vegetable packaging solutions. Xiamen Changsu showcased simulated degradation boxes, demonstrating to visitors that their packaging materials decompose faster than fruit peels. Alex, a company representative, remarked, "As European and North American consumers become increasingly conscious of health and environmental sustainability, demand for biodegradable packaging is rising. While local production costs are high, Chinese-made packaging offers better cost-effectiveness. Consequently, more Chinese companies are developing high-efficiency, degradable packaging solutions and actively expanding into international markets." Alex also introduced the company's BOPLA packaging, which can extend the shelf life of fruits and vegetables by up to 60%, minimizing decay and preserving visual appeal. He noted, "Currently, high-end European supermarket chains use our compostable film for salad packaging. Through this exhibition, we hope to introduce our new products to more overseas customers."

Additionally, companies specializing in fruit gift packaging made their debut, displaying retail-ready fruit gift boxes under 5kg. Shenzhen Chuangshunxing, a paper packaging manufacturer participating for the first time, highlighted the growing popularity of aesthetically designed fruit gift boxes in China's mature market. A company representative explained, "With continuous innovation in packaging design, personalized and customized packaging has become a key factor in brand differentiation in China's retail sector. However, demand for fruit gift packaging remains relatively small in overseas markets. Through this exhibition, we aim to gauge visitor interest and explore new opportunities."

Notably, several garlic exporters introduced peeled garlic cloves. According to a sales representative from Shandong Xiangsheng Import and Export, "Peeled garlic cloves have a shorter shelf life compared to fresh garlic, and market demand has traditionally been low. We were surprised to see so many companies promoting peeled garlic cloves simultaneously this year." The representative suggested that fluctuations in the fresh garlic market and recent shipping challenges may have driven companies to explore new opportunities by marketing peeled garlic cloves.

Many Chinese exhibitors expressed that Berlin Fruit Logistica provides an excellent platform for building relationships with both new and existing clients, as well as for gaining insights into industry trends. Following the event, several exhibitors expressed their enthusiasm for returning next year to further promote their brands, meet evolving market demands, and maintain their competitive edge.
