Royal Gold

Review of the season and future prospects

Royal Gold is a company based in Paternò (CT) boasting a leading position in the Sicilian fruit and vegetable sector. It has marketed 500,000 kg of products, with 60% of sales in the Italian market (Veneto, Lombardy, Piedmont, Liguria, Lazio), 20% in Germany, 10% in Austria, and the remaining 10% in France and Poland. Sales manager Luca Rizzuto describes the sales season as "complex yet satisfying".

The citrus fruit campaign, which started with the Navel Newhall variety in November and continued with several Tarocco varieties, was affected by drought and adverse weather conditions, which resulted in predominantly medium-small grades (cal. 6-8-9). The rain and wind in February further damaged the groves. The producer prices of the Tarocco Rosso and Lempso varieties fluctuated between €0.50 and €0.90.

The company is now preparing for the Mazzarrone greenhouse grape season, which will start in May, and will be followed by apricots, peaches, and nectarines until October. A volume of about 2,000 tons is expected for the peach campaign, while cherries will be available from November to June.

A brand synonymous with quality and sustainability
Royal Gold places a strong emphasis on the quality and seasonality of its products, which are carefully selected to reflect high standards. The company adopts a meticulous selection method and works with trusted producers guaranteeing freshness, traceability, and competitiveness.

"The primary goal is to build strong partnerships with buyers, wholesalers, large-scale retailers, and fruit and vegetable markets. Royal Gold is committed to enhancing the seasonality of products, always ensuring the highest quality. The fact that we are independent selectors grants us total freedom in choosing the best varieties available on the market," says Luca Rizzuto,

"In summary, the commercial season presents a complex yet satisfactory trend, with a good distribution between the domestic and foreign markets, despite the climatic challenges that have affected the production and size of the citrus fruit varieties."
