Illegally imported grapes and lemons destroyed in Batken

Authorities in Kyrgyzstan's Batken Region have destroyed a shipment of imported grapes and lemons, according to the Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry.

On February 11, the Batken Department of Chemicalization, Plant Protection, and Quarantine received a report from the local police department about an illegal shipment of agricultural goods into the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU). The cargo violated customs regulations and lacked the necessary documentation.

The owner of the cargo was given two options: return the shipment to its country of origin or destroy it. The owner decided to destroy the cargo. A special commission was formed to oversee the process, which confirmed the destruction of 2,018.85 kg of grapes and 1,494.51 kg of lemons.

The confiscated goods were burned at a solid waste disposal site in Batken. The Ministry of Agriculture of Kyrgyzstan confirmed the destruction with photo and video evidence.
