Thanks to effective state policies in trade and the efforts of local agricultural producers, the sales of Belarusian apples in the domestic market have nearly tripled over the past four years, stated by Tatyana Krasnyuk, head of the Consumer Market Department at the Ministry, during a seminar on industry intensification at the Institute of Fruit Growing of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus.
According to Krasnyuk, the volume of Belarusian apples sold through retail chains alone has reached 40,000 tons per year, accounting for two-thirds of all apples on store shelves. At the same time, apple imports decreased by 20% in 2024.
She expressed confidence that within the next three years, Belarus will be able to eliminate apple imports by planting 3,000 hectares of new orchards and constructing additional storage facilities.
