Chinese company Qingdao Wanlin Food Co., Ltd plans to build an onion processing plant in Zhetysu Region, Kazakhstan. The region was chosen due to its favorable climate and natural conditions for onion cultivation, the regional administration's press service reported.
During a meeting with Zhetysu Region Akim Beibit Isabayev, company founder and CEO Li Yantao stated that Qingdao Wanlin Food Co. specializes in processing agricultural products, including onions, garlic, carrots, and potatoes. Both parties agreed to consider the location of the facility, with local farmers expected to supply raw materials.
"We will explore potential sites for the plant. From your side, we expect a more detailed project proposal. Investments and tax revenue are important, but the key priority is job creation with fair wages for local residents. Zhetysu's strategic location near China creates excellent opportunities for joint projects. We are ready to provide the necessary legal support for investors," said Beibit Isabayev.
According to the regional administration, Zhetysu has already implemented four investment projects in manufacturing, renewable energy, and logistics with Chinese partners, totaling over 80 billion tenge.
