Kyrgyzstan and South Korea are considering a new agricultural project focused on cold-resistant onion cultivation. This was discussed during a meeting between Mirbek Duysheev, Deputy Minister of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry of Kyrgyzstan, Song Hyun Yul, President of South Korean company Seedon Co. Ltd, and Aida Ismailova, Ambassador of Kyrgyzstan to South Korea.
According to Song Hyun Yul, the onion variety developed by Seedon Co. Ltd is specifically adapted to Kyrgyzstan's climate and can withstand temperatures as low as -30°C.
The South Korean side confirmed that Seedon Co. Ltd plans to finance the project between 2025 and 2029 using funds from the EDCF (Economic Development Cooperation Fund), under the Framework Agreement between the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan and the Government of South Korea.
