Sunpunch apple launched for Canadian market

Summerland Varieties Corp. (SVC) has announced the release of the Sunpunch apple, developed by Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada. This variety will be distributed through a collaboration with Martin's Family Fruit Farm, Algoma Orchards, and Verger des Bois-Francs, targeting Canadian consumers.

According to Nick Ibuki, SVC's Business Development Manager, "The Sunpunch apple is refreshingly crisp and juicy, with hints of the tropics." He added that its "tri-colored" skin and shelf life will allow the apple to be available throughout the year.

Initial availability of SunpunchTM apples will be in Ontario and Quebec, with plans to expand commercial production to British Columbia, Nova Scotia, and New Brunswick. The rollout aims to eventually reach all Canadian consumers.
