Edward Koemans: "Business model was not future-proof"

Davis Europe declared bankrupt in Ridderkerk

On 12 March 2025, the Rotterdam District Court declared Davis Europe bankrupt, appointing Mr A.C.L. Beneder as trustee.

In a statement, CEO Edward Koemans explained that the company had experienced rapid growth prior to the COVID years. "Just before COVID, we had invested — in anticipation of Brexit — in a logistics company with its own warehouse. When COVID hit, it became clear that many of our customers were linked to the hospitality industry, resulting in a drop in sales of 50 per cent or more in some months, which forced us to reorganize."

"2023 was a reasonable to a good year, during which we regained some ground. 2024 also started positively, but the last quarter was so poor that we drew our conclusions," Edward continues. "Davis Europe's business model turned out to be outdated, and there appeared to be less and less space for it in the market. We had two options: to reorganize once again and split the company into one or two smaller start-ups, or to continue in the industry in a different way. We chose the latter."

The operations of Davis Europe — including Davis Global and Davis Solutions — have therefore come to an end. The parent company, Davis Worldwide, will continue to operate fully from the UK.
