Proarándanos projects that blueberry production for the 2024-2025 campaign will reach 317,941 tons, valued at US$2,150 billion, marking a 15% increase over the previous campaign's 226,078 tons, valued at US$1,864 billion.
Blueberries have become a notable Peruvian agricultural export. The Proarándanos trade association presented a report at a Blueberries Consulting industry event, highlighting that in 2016, Peru exported blueberries worth US$237 million, which constituted 11% of the global market valued at US$2,246 billion at that time. By 2024, Peruvian shipments are expected to reach US$2,270 billion, representing 33% of the global market, which is projected to be valued at US$4,692 billion. The global market for blueberries was estimated at US$6,962 billion last year, indicating a threefold increase since 2016.
From a volume standpoint, Peru shipped 27,000 tons of blueberries in 2016, accounting for 6% of the global volume of 460,761 tons. By 2024, Peruvian shipments are projected to reach 326,000 tons, representing 31% of the global total of 1,054,340 tons.
Regarding organic blueberries, Proarándanos forecasts that they will reach 2,024 tons in the 2025-2026 campaign, representing an 11% share of total Peruvian blueberry shipments.
