Argentina has signed sanitary protocols with China, enabling the export of walnuts, pecans, almonds, hazelnuts, and pistachios. This development coincides with agreements on poultry meat exports. The announcement came from Argentina's Minister of Economy, Luis Caputo, and Wang Lingjun, Deputy Minister of the General Administration of Customs of China (GACC).
The authorization opens market opportunities for Argentina's regional economies, which are experiencing growth in local production. The pecan industry in the Entre Ríos region, Argentina's leading producer, stands to benefit. Cynthia Cabrol, Director of International Relations at the Ministry of Economic Development of Entre Ríos, stated, "The next phase involves registering exporting establishments with Senasa for shipments to China, and we are actively working on this process."
In discussions between Argentine and Chinese officials, priorities for 2025 were outlined, including protocols for dried plums. This agreement is a step in Argentina's agricultural exports, fostering trade relations with China.
