Australian citrus board confirms leadership appointments

The Citrus Australia board has confirmed its office bearers for the coming term following a meeting held on the sidelines of the Australian Citrus Congress in Griffith, New South Wales.

Richard Byllaardt was re-elected as chair, continuing his strong leadership of the industry body.

Ryan Arnold, a grower director based in the Riverland region in South Australia, was appointed deputy chair — an important step in the board's succession planning for the chair role in the future.

"Ryan brings great insight, energy, and fresh prospectives to the board – and Citrus Australia as a whole," said Mr Byllaardt.

"This appointment is part of our commitment to long-term, strategic leadership for the Australian citrus industry," he said.

Mr Byllaardt also acknowledged the value of strong succession planning and the contribution of Greg Fraser, outgoing deputy chair.

"The board's focus on succession planning ensures we are well-placed to respond to industry needs now and into the future," he said.

"I'd also like to thank Greg Fraser for his dedication and leadership during his time as deputy chair — his support has been greatly valued, and we look forward to him remaining on as an independent director."

Citrus Australia CEO Nathan Hancock welcomed the appointments. "I'm pleased to see continuity in the chair role and congratulate Ryan on his new position," Mr Hancock said.

"The board continues to position itself to lead the industry confidently into the future."

Citrus Australia is the peak industry body for the nation's citrus growers, representing the interests of growers, packers, and marketers across all growing regions. The organization plays a key role in biosecurity, market access, industry advocacy, and grower support.
