In modern professional horticulture, genetics is essential for improving varieties and increasing productivity, quality, and plant adaptability. This is precisely the specialization of seed companies, whose work - when supported by a motivated team in the field - becomes added value for the entire sector. Founded in 2012 by Italian and Israeli partners, the company Seeds Technologies specializes in the research and development of new vegetable varieties.

To celebrate this milestone, a delegation of Italian growers, technicians, and cooperative representatives visited Almería on a business trip organized by Seeds Technologies. During the visit, the participants met with the CASI cooperative, strengthening ties between the Italian and Spanish agricultural sectors. The highlight of the event was the official presentation of Seeds Technologies España, which took place at the premises of Fraimher Agro, in Poniente Almeriense, between El Ejido and Balanegra.
Seeds Technologies' first step on Iberian soil was the introduction of the first Californian pepper varieties, specially developed to adapt to the climatic conditions of the southeast of the peninsula. Alfredo Haro, manager of Seeds Technologies in Almería and an expert in the agricultural sector, explained the experimental work carried out in recent years to identify the best varieties for the Spanish market.
"[We] have been conducting a variety of studies in the greenhouses of several local farmers since 2022 in order to select the best-yielding varieties. We are grateful for the trust and cooperation of the growers who have supported us in this process," said Haro.

Isabel and Francisco López González of Fraimher Agro welcomed the delegation to learn about the development of the new pepper: "We have been working on this project for years with greenhouse tests, and it is a source of pride to finally be able to share the results with the region." Among the growers who participated in the tests were Juan, Virginia, and Sergio, who confirmed the "high productivity and quality of the new pepper varieties."
In his speech to the many farmers and professionals present at the event, Stefano Recupero stressed the importance of an approach based on proximity to producers: "Our mission is to listen to growers to understand their needs and offer effective solutions. In Italy, we are known for our direct relationship with producers, and we want to bring the same approach to Spain."

"We have developed varieties that are resistant to powdery mildew and nematodes, with strong root systems and high-quality, compact fruit," said Recupero. "Our goal is to offer products that can adapt to abiotic stress conditions and guarantee excellent fruit set, high productivity, and long post-harvest storage."

"In the tomato field, Seeds Technologies is a major supplier in Sicily with Livanti, a high-quality and high-yielding cherry, and Gricale, a cherry that is very common on the national market," continues the Italian technical coordinator. "The portfolio also includes cocktail, cluster and other tomato varieties, as well as aubergines, courgettes, watermelons, melons (Galia and Cantalupo), rootstocks and other pepper varieties, such as Lamuyo. With the opening of the Spanish subsidiary, Seeds Technologies strengthens its commitment to the selection of varieties for the Mediterranean region, focusing on innovation, quality, and proximity to growers.
