Vietnam boosts green and digital exports to meet global standards

Vietnamese enterprises are implementing green and digital export strategies to align with international standards. Nguyen Dinh Tung, CEO of Vina T&T Import Export Service Trading Co. Ltd., emphasized that global markets' technical barriers are creating a level playing field, urging exporters to focus on quality and compliance. Vietnamese agricultural products are entering new markets, with pomelo in New Zealand, passion fruit in Australia, and coconut in the US.

Tung identified the Middle East and Halal-certified countries as potential markets for Vietnamese fruits and vegetables. "These markets offer significant potential, provided we adapt to their unique standards", he stated. Le Thi Giau, Chairwoman of Binh Tay Food, encouraged firms to invest in eco-friendly factories and production lines to meet market requirements.

Nguyen Nguyen Phuong, Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Industry and Trade, pointed out Vietnam's free trade agreements (FTAs) as facilitators in overcoming global market barriers. "Amid economic headwinds, nations are turning to solutions like social responsibility," he mentioned. "Controlling chemical residues in food is critical for ensuring safety, aligning with international norms, and broadening export reach".

Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Trade and Investment Promotion Centre (ITPC), Ho Thi Quyen, stressed the importance of adapting to regulations from major markets such as the US, EU, and Japan. "Limits on chemical residues require proactive steps", she noted. Quyen also recommended the adoption of advanced quality control technologies, rigorous inspection protocols, and collaboration with independent certification bodies to enhance transparency and compliance.
