Michaël Sanchez Escriva, founder of 'Les Conseils de Michaël', an analysis and advice service for the fruit and vegetable sector, sets the scene straight away. "I am not a producer, buyer, or seller." His role is to read the signals that others do not have the time or resources to pick up and, more importantly, to decipher them. "I am a field analyst: I read and interpret to pass on the right information to those who need to move at the right time." However, he insists on his neutrality. "I do not take part in any transactions." Here is a look back at his career, the origins of this new role, how it works, and the target audience. We are talking here about market trends because these trends shape prices, which are more a consequence than an initial input.

And why is that?
After more than 16 years of experience in the fruit and vegetable sector, first as a salesman (buyer-seller), then as a manager, a position which enabled him to deal with logistics, marketing, and quality, Michael now wants to approach the fruit and vegetable sector from a different angle. His years of experience have enabled him to acquire not only in-depth analysis but also reflexes in the field. "I am launching a service that I myself would have liked to have available at certain key moments in my career. My goal is to help professionals avoid mistakes that can sometimes be very costly. "I have often witnessed, and experienced first-hand, situations that occur over and over again, decisions that are taken too quickly, or too little or too late. But instead of incompetence or negligence, these situations are due to a lack of clear reading of signals. This is where I come in, giving the right signal at the right time, as a sort of market sentinel to avoid bad windows, bad trade-offs and isolated decisions."
© LCM Les conseils de Michaël also covers a range of tailor-made advice for professionals of the fruit and vegetable sector, including strategic development, digital optimization, and partnership facilitation.
How does it work?
"I do not offer lengthy assignments or monthly reports, but a simple, straightforward service. I provide useful, readable information very quickly, often in less than 24 hours. And because the market is full of pitfalls, to stay one step ahead, Michael has to take into account a wealth of data. To do this, he relies on a combination of signals from the field, the market environment, and the global context. These are certainly concrete elements, but they are often discreet. "So many details that do not fit into an Excel sheet but which, if read at the right moment, make all the difference. These are often weak but decisive signals, which, if picked up in time, can help avoid costly mistakes, secure a trade, or adjust a strategy in real time. On the other hand, I do not give any instructions. I simply pass on a reading, and it is then up to each of us to interpret it according to our profession, our moment in time and the issues at stake."
Who is it for?
"Les Conseils de Michaël is aimed at all operators in the sector, whoever they may be," explains Michaël. Producers and producer organizations, shippers, importers, wholesalers, greengrocers, supermarket managers and sales staff, catering and food service professionals, processors… "Everyone has their own constraints, but they all share a common need: to anticipate, not to be subjected to decisions and, above all, not to find themselves having to react too late and try to repair the damage."
"Of course, not every player has the same resources"
"An isolated operator, for example, will not have access to information in the same way as a buyer in a central purchasing group or a sales representative at a wholesaler based at a MIN market. In some organizations with 20 salespeople, 5 buyers, a sales manager, and a purchasing manager, signals are passed around every morning before sales. Some players can get a feel of the clients, others check production areas. There is a network, a flow, and information—but also more files, more pressure, and more decisions that need to be made quickly. The needs may differ, but they are present everywhere. Some require a clear relay point, others a filter, and some a data checkpoint to help refine, sort, and better anticipate what's ahead.
