Edeka Minden-Hannover builds huge warehouse

The huge building constructed along the German A2, next to exit Lauenau, cannot be missed. The shell of a new regional warehouse for Edeka Minden-Hannover is there. Covering an area of 32 hectares, equivalent of 45 football fields, the construction is entering its last phase, so German website nw-news.de reports.

Edeka Minden-Hannover is expected to begin use of these premises in May next year. "This will be a large step forward. Firstly deep freeze products will be distributed to around 670 supermarkets from Lauenau" explained logistics leader Joachim Lücke. Following on will be delivery of fruit and vegetables, delicatessen and dry goods. From November 2014 the new warehouse will also supply sausage and meat products. In the future it is expected that there will be 850 employed in the location at Lauenau distributing more than three million trolleys from the warehouse and an expected turnover of more than one million dollars.
