Productivity compared to work hours by country

Since Sweden announced its plans to begin experimenting with a six hour work day a few years ago there has been widespread debate on whether more hours mean increased productivity. This chart helps with that question and shows each countries average hours worked, and the productivity per hour of work adjusted by purchasing power.

According to the data the United States shows the highest productivity per hour with $39.53 per hour with Cambodia being ranked last, at $2.23 per hour.

While the results are still unclear whether less is more, some countries seem to follow this trend with an hours work being worth more than other countries which work much more. Even with increased productivity however, this could also be due to vastly different economies when comparing service based economies to developing countries.
