The Bananito is a very popular Spreafico product

"Many banana-producing countries also grow something similar to bananitos. Mexico and Costa Rica both supply a similar product (wrongly) sold as bananito. We prefer to work with Colombia and Ecuador, as they are the only ones that can guarantee the quality our clients appreciate."

This is how Spreafico representatives sum up their experience with bananito: the fruit resembles a banana but is smaller, with a sweeter flavour and particularly popular with children. It's also easily digestible and increasingly consumed as a snack.

"Bananito must not be mistaken with other mini-bananas available on the market. It has a deeper flavour and is more compact. It is also hard to imitate. Thanks to the experience we gained over the past 15 years, we find it rather easy to sell."

Spreafico handles hundreds of tons of bananitos a year. The produce is imported exclusively by air. This product is part of the exotic product range within the èSquisita brand: a true Category Management project developed to involve consumers and push them towards aware purchase choices.

èSquisita was tested in 2017 in over 70 stores ranging from small supermarkets to larger hypermarkets.

"We studied its performance for a year to assess its impact during the various seasons and results have been surprising, with volumes and sell-out turnovers that have more than doubled."

èSquisita is made up 13 exotic products including avocados, mangoes and papayas as well as passion fruit and bladder cherries.

Over the Christmas holidays, èSquisita's assortment also includes lychees, sweet granadillas and dragon fruit, coming mainly from Brazil, Peru, Colombia, Mexico, South Africa, Senegal, Ivory Coast, Mali, Israel and India.

"èSquisita constitutes our Premium exotic fruit range. We select the variety, origin, grade and ripening level to supply consumers with produce that is not only nice to eat but also appealing."

"èSquisita is a joyful brand, i.e. it pleases all the five senses as well as the mind thanks to its capability of getting consumers involved."

èSquisita fruit is sold loose with EAN codes to make purchases easier.
