Interpoma China: modernizing apple orchard management

Interpoma China 2018 kicked off at the Weihai International Convention and Exhibition Center in Shandong on June 28th, and made its second debut in China after the first show last year.

The exhibition follows Interpoma's Italian exhibition, with apple cultivation, storage and sales as the main exhibition content. The event included several keynote speeches and technical exchanges at the same time. In addition, the conference set up an on-the-spot observation activity of apple planting bases to observe the future trend of China's flourishing apple industry. About 250 Chinese and foreign guests attended the opening ceremony.

The theme of this year's event referred to "environmental-friendly development". Mr. Wang Deguang of the Weihai Agricultural Bureau mentioned in his speech that as one of the main producing areas of apples in China, the modern fruit industry in the city has developed rapidly. The planting area of modern orchards has reached more than 300,000 mu (around 5 acres), accounting for about half of the total area of apple cultivation in the city. Weihai has also become the largest modern apple growing area in the country.

Many Italian machinery manufacturers and
seedling producers as well as industry-related companies at home and abroad set up booths at the exhibition. Domestic exhibitors included Haisheng Seedling, China Forest Seed Company, Huasheng Seedling, Zhonglin Fengwo and other large and medium-sized seedling enterprises. Weihai's leading enterprises in modern apple production, Sakura Juyuan, Xinyuan, etc. were also among the exhibitors.

After the opening ceremony, a conference was staged. Themes discussed on Thursday were "environmental-friendly prevention and control"and "precision fertilization". A session on "apple post-production and Mmrket status" followed to conclude the day.

Seminar themes of the Friday morning session included the control of chemicals, apple pest and disease, and seedling production and breeding technology. In order to enrich the exhibition activities, the conference organized an observation trip to the apple planting base from June 29-30.
