For the first seven months of 2018,  Ukraine walnut exports amounted to us $67,1 million, 83% more compared to the same period last year. This was announced by Ukraine’s Deputy Minister of agrarian policy and food.

Last year Ukraine exported walnut $100.8 million, which is 27.5% more than in 2016 ($79.1 million). According to the Minister, Ukrainian walnuts were bought more often by EU countries ($61.7 million in 2017) and Asia ($23.2 million).

According to the USDA, in 2018/19 Ukraine will produce 132,000 tons of walnuts; 22% more than last year’s yield. This is due to the fact that in 2017, Ukraine planted 1,843 hectares of nut orchards, and this year this number exceeded 2,400 hectares.

According to sivtelegram.media, the total acreage of walnut gardens in Ukraine spans more than 18,000 hectares, or 8.1% of the total area of orchards.
