Excellent success in terms of visitors for the Marca fair, held in Bologna on the 16th and 17th January 2019. The first day of the fair was literally invaded by crowds of people, some of them even coming from abroad.

The event made one thing clear: within MMRs, the distributor brand (DB) has gained the customers’ trust: it is more dynamic than industrial brands in terms of anticipating the needs, and it also follows all the firm traceability and safety protocols.

In the fresh sector, it represents the first choice, to the point that customers would spend more time to find the brand they are used to. To put it bluntly, the Distributor Brand is the driving force in the development of Modern Distribution.

According to researchers from the Nomisma institute, when customers choose a DB product, they mainly look at the waste reduction (40%), quality (30%), healthiness (32%), specific security guarantees (28%) and respect for the environment (22%).
From the shelves, customers: prefer to choose an Italian product (40%), look at the label content, production method and at the traceability (1 out of 4 customers, on average). Finally, consumers are increasingly interested in organic produce.
